What we see most often in Dubai
Grade selection is where steel projects in Dubai succeed or fail. 304 stainless is fine indoors, but on a coastal or near-coastal elevation the chloride load in the air pits the passive layer and produces the brown ‘tea staining’ that owners assume is rust from poor quality steel — it is actually the wrong grade for the exposure, and 316 should have been specified. The second avoidable failure is galvanic corrosion where stainless is fixed straight to mild steel or aluminium without isolation; in humid, salt-laden air the dissimilar metals form a cell and the weaker one corrodes at the joint, often inside a fixing where nobody sees it until the connection is loose.
Frequently asked questions
Indoors, 304 is normally sufficient. For anything exposed to outdoor air near the coast — balustrades, gates, handrails, pool surrounds — we recommend 316, because 304 will tea-stain and pit in that environment.
Yes. We work from your drawing or develop the detail with you, then fabricate and install. Site dimensions are taken before fabrication so the finished item fits without on-site adjustment.
Often yes. If the corrosion is surface-level, we can treat, prepare and recoat it. Where sections have lost material or a connection is compromised, replacing the affected member is the safer option and we will say so.
